If someone is in immediate danger, call 111.
Our commitment
Padel Park is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children, young people and vulnerable adults who visit, play or train with us. We will act on every concern raised.
Who’s responsible
- Safeguarding Lead: Campbell Dawson, Director, campbell@padelpark.nz
- Deputy: Nic Woods, office@padelpark.nz
Our standards
- Coaches and staff who work with juniors are safety-checked before they start.
- Coaches avoid being alone with a junior out of sight of others. Lessons happen on open courts.
- Staff don’t contact juniors privately on social media or by personal message; contact goes through a parent or guardian.
- Under-14s are supervised by an adult at the venue at all times. Under-16s need the U16 Declaration from a parent or guardian.
- Court limits, not counting the coach: up to 6 players for ages 18 and over, 5 for ages 14 to 17, and 4 for under-14s.
- Photos of juniors are only used with a parent or guardian’s consent.
- Schools and outside coaches who hire our courts are responsible for vetting and supervising their own staff and students, and should check our current guidance with the team before booking.
If you’re worried
- If someone is in immediate danger, call 111.
- Tell the Safeguarding Lead or any staff member as soon as you can. You don’t need proof; a concern is enough.
- Write down what you saw or were told, in the person’s own words, with the date and time.
- Don’t investigate yourself or confront anyone.
If a child tells you something: listen, stay calm, reassure them they did the right thing, and don’t promise to keep it secret.
What we’ll do
We’ll acknowledge every concern within 3 working days (urgent ones the same day), keep it confidential to those who need to know, and refer it on where needed. We may stand someone down from coaching or the venue while a concern is looked into.
